Ex-Governor Samuel D. Felker of New Hampshire, better known to '82 as Sam Felker, suffered a paralytic stroke on the evening of November 2, at the First Methodist church of Rochester, where he was one of the guests of a banquet celebrating the 125th anniversary of the church. Felker was assisted to his home on Wakefield St. by his neighbor, ex-Governor Spaulding, one of three ex-governors of the state living on that street, commonly known as "Governors' Row." Boston papers of November 4 reported a slight improvement in tlie patient's condition, that he was able to talk and take some nourishment. Sam has also been mayor of Rochester and city solicitor, and two years ago retired from the office of judge of the Municipal Court, as he reached the age of seventy years. Here's hoping his improvement continues till health is restored.
DeWitt writes that he and his family are safely and happily back from their summer home at Marshfield, Mass., to their winter quarters at Dallas, Texas, "the best city in the greatest state in the country." He gives his address as "P.O. Box 384." Whether this indicates any change from "Melrose Court," where he located himself in the Report, does not appear. Perhaps he is stumping the state for Garner, either as vice-president or member of Congress. DeWitt is a very persuasive talker, as schoolbook salesmen get to be.
