I am writing on August 20 for the Nov-Dec DAM issue, but the Sept-Oct issue is not yet out. Too long a lead time. But DAM's value is that friends in other classes can keep up on our news, as we can with them. I shall tackle Tithe next, I hope to be out in a month, hence between DAM issues. But I need input from 36ers, about yourselves, families, views on anything; with Green Cards, letters, phone, better than for me to reach out to you.
Dr. Bob Bright writes from Suisun, California: "Time is a vague dimension now that I've reached 87.1 am still on my 40-foot oxygen line, mostly confined to bed in my home. No nursing home for me. I saw enough years ago during my M.D. rounds to up to 85 patients at care homes. Better the home hospice program: pleasant visiting nurses and personal-care ladies." But we can't all control those circumstances.
Richard Hefler called to say that his father, our Richard, died in Oklahoma City, aged 90. He had an M.B.A. from Stanford, attended Fordham Law sans degree. He ended 1942-46 U.S. Navy duty as commander then became a business consultant. More in Tithe.
Shirley (Mrs. David) Fox wrote that DickWakefield phoned after moving into Ida Culver House in north Seattle, where she is resident assistant secretary. She invited him to her cottage for a drink. Dick attended Harvard Business School, then Rhode Island School of Design. He worked at Boeing. Dick lost his wife, Grace, a year ago.
Boyce Price had another show of his paintings, this in Hanover at the historic Howe Library. My photo is of a lovely winter scene with still a touch of fall color on one tree. What a gift, Boyce!
Em Day, '34 president and newsletter editor, married now to Gerry, the widow of Bill Scherman '34, brother of our Dang, wrote that he sees Boyce regularly at the Thursday lunch group at the Norwich Inn. "Boyce says how lucky he and 36 are to have you as secretary and newsletter editor." Yes, with you-all's input!
