Dartmouth Night, which was observed in many cities throughout the world November 4, attracted a much larger participation than usual in the celebration of the occasion in Hanover. Many guests were in Hanover for the fall house parties, and some of these participated in the torchlight parade and the songs and cheers about the bonfire on the campus afterwards. Palaeopitus, considering the comparative lack of participation in recent observances of Dartmouth Night in Hanover, focussed more attention than usual on the event, and it is estimated that more than a thousand students and their guests participated, while many more gathered about the campus to observe.
The torchlight procession followed a more direct course than usual to the President's house, where President and Mrs. Hopkins greeted the throng from their steps and Mr. Hopkins spoke briefly. There were songs and cheers about the campus bonfire afterwards.
