In the Annual Financial Survey of the Boston Transcript of January 7 one of the leading articles was by Charlie Fassett, manager of the Boston office of Halsey, Stuart and Company, on the subject of "Opportunities to Secure High Rates of Income." He brought out the fact that "in the past history of the bond market such periods of opportunity have recurred only at relatively long intervals, and usually the most acute stages of bond market depression have not been of long duration."
Bobby Cochrane is one of the three honor pupils in his class at the Rivers School.
Gardner Cushman, who would be a candidate for the freshman relay team, had the misfortune to sprain an ankle late in November, so he may be unable to take part in track sports until spring. Bobby Cushman, who is at Andover, is attracting the attention of the swimming coach by his diving and swimming proficiency.
Vic King has written to second Jim O'Neill's remarks about the reunion. He expects to attend, bringing "one wife but only four sons." His son Victor, who graduated last June, is at the Harvard Law School, "where he is learning to throw something else than a sixteen-pound hammer." Jamie, a sophomore, "is studying skiing." Vic expected to sail for Europe in January, so he could be back in good season for the reunion. He mentioned an "unusual happening" at Christmas time when five members of his family were bitten by a mad dog, and says that "taking fourteen consecutive injections of rabies serum in the stomach is something we are thankful is over with."
The dates of our 25th Reunion are June 17-18-19-20-21. On Friday old friendships will be renewed, and there will be a welcoming party of some sort, possibly at the Outing Club, to wives and children who have not attended reunions before. It is hoped that many of the class who have not been with us before will surely attend this 25th.
On Saturday there will be time to inspect the many new buildings completed in the last few years, and in the evening the class dinner. The wives and children will enjoy the performance of the Players.
On Sunday we play together at the Lake Tarleton Club at Pike, N. H., which is an admirable place for golf, tennis, boating, swimming, and being generally social and sociable.
Monday the ball game, alumni luncheon, fraternity reunions, and in the evening the Musical Club performance and the Commencement ball.
Tuesday is Commencement Day, and it is worth while to see and participate in the academic procession and attend the ceremonies of awarding honorary degrees and those to the senior class. Plan to stay for this if possible.
