Dartmouth alumni of Atlanta invaded Chattanooga, Tenn., over the week-end of March 12-13 and despite advance "dope" came away with chief honors at golf, bridge and ping-pong. (This report is from an Atlanta source and Chattanooga may have something further to say about final award of these honors when they visit the Atlanta alumni in the middle of April!)
The best golf of the day was provided by A. Pollack Boyd '22, former Big Green intercollegiate title holder and more recently Tennessee state champion. "Polly" turned in a gross 76 despite the bad influence of other alleged golfers. However, the Atlanta team made up of "Dutch" Burnham '14, Hen Sturgess '17 and Allan Gottschaldt '18 managed to nose out the Chattanoogans. The latter team included Joe Lane '21, Doc Noone '10 and Boyd '22.
John Fletcher '04 was granted first honors at bridge, closely pushed by Bob McLellan '28. The entire affair was staged at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club and marked the first of several joint parties that are planned. The coming meeting, in April, is to be held at the Capital City Club in Atlanta and some of the Atlanta "reserves" will be called upon to wield their golf clubs to uphold the title now claimed by the Georgians. Among them will be "Chuck" Palmer '18, Hap Jones '24, Louis Rector '19 and E. W. Hiestand '10.
