The tentative program for Commencement activities is given below. Class reunion events are arranged by the various committees in charge to avoid conflict in so far as possible with the general program for Commencement. A feature of the 163 rd Commencement celebration will be a lacrosse game in the Memorial Field stadium Monday morning, June 20. This will be played between a team representing the Onondaga Indians and the Dartmouth varsity. It will precede the annual Commencement luncheon again to be held Monday noon in the gymnasium. Speakers for the luncheon are announced as: J. Frank Drake 'O2, presiding officer; President Hopkins; James T. Gerould '95, representing the parents of the graduating class; William F. English 'B2, speaking for the fifty- year class; and Charles H. Owsley 2nd '32, secretary-chairman of the senior class and representing that group.
Reservations for dormitory rooms can be made only by application to A. P. Fairfield, Hanover, New Hampshire. Rooms will be ready for occupancy Friday, June 17, and may be held until Tuesday afternoon, June 21. It will be noted on the program of events that certain hours are reserved each day for the inspection of new buildings. These include Dick Hall's House, Baker Library, Carpenter Art Building, Tuck School, and Sanborn English House.
Through a special arrangement made with the railroad passenger associations of this country and Canada it will be possible for reuning alumni, parents of seniors, and their families, to use identification convention certificates in purchasing round trip railroad tickets. These certificates may be secured free of charge upon application to the Secretary, Hanover, New Hampshire. They entitle the holder to fare and one-half for the round trip and are good for thirty days.
For the first time in Dartmouth's history the Commencement exercises will be held out-of-doors. Preparations were begun last year near the Bema in College Park for the construction of a large platform and a seating arena. This necessary construction work and grading is being rushed to completion to make possible the holding of the exercises in the Bema, Tuesday, June 21, weath'er permitting. In case of rain the graduation ceremonies will be transferred to Webster Hall. Seating accommodations in Webster are limited and have been entirely inadequate for the occasion for a number of years. By the use of folding chairs the Bema will be transformed into a commodious and comfortable outdoor auditorium. There will be plenty of seats available for members of the families of graduating seniors, alumni and their families, and for Hanover residents. Specially built platforms will provide seating for honorary degree recipients, faculty, and the band. Loud speaking equipment will also be installed.
