New Air Line
November 1933

Plans for daily air service between Boston and White River Junction were consummated last month, and the new line of the Boston and Maine Airways was expected to be put into operation by October 20. The proposed fare for the round trip is $13.00 and for one way $7.00, which compares very favorably with the cost of railroad fare plus parlor car. The time for the trip from White River Junction to Boston has been announced as one hour and five minutes.

The service is scheduled to continue during a trial period of six months, with the expectation that it will be operated under a deficit, even if patronage is good. Airway officials hope, however, to win a mail contract after the first six months of operation which such contracts require. If successful, the air service will extend from White River Junction to Montpelier, with possible further extension to Montreal. Trimotored, ten-passenger, heated Stinson planes are to be used on the line.

A Hanover committee on air transportation has been formed with Halsey C. Edgerton 'O6, as chairman. Other members are A. B. Gile '17, J. M. Piane '14, A. P. Fairfield '00, and J. A. Danzig '34, student representative.
