DURING the past month we have been through the finale of the winter and now we are close to spring though as yet there are very few signs of it around town, as the snow still remains. Athletics have come to somewhat of a standstill for the time being although the baseball team is having indoor sessions. Our 1936 hockey team failed to win from Harvard and again went under against St. Paul's. No major victories for our informal season but we enjoyed it all the same and there's still ice in the rink if we should get the urge again. The freshman basketball team also lost to Harvard but that has been their only defeat and recently they won the class basketball series. The varsity seasons have also closed and though no championships were won, the winter has witnessed many fine games and much brilliant playing. As for explanation of hockey—the same old cry rings out for artificial ice. It would make a whale of a difference! The winter sports team has done nobly and our freshman skier, Ben Woods, whom we mentioned previously, has topped his year with the national race down Moosilauke. A great start for a great skier!
Perhaps we have leaned too much toward athletics. Oh yes! The wonders of the banking world have not failed to visit Hanover. In fact the Green Key Prom has been postponed and many a freshman is wondering when he'll get a chance to strut his stuff. Such is life! Vacation is only three weeks ahead—but oh those hour exams! It doesn't seem so long since we were taking our first set last fall—are we still the same? Still the same when we approach exams, at least!—An attempt to boycott the Nugget has come and gone and the results are unknown, but seemingly not far reaching in regard to the desired lower price. It's a bad time of year to stay away from the show—these sloppy afternoons grow on you after awhile! Varsity football will soon be with us again as spring practice is to get under way shortly. We'll hope for the best!
