DURING the past month these Dartmouth freshmen have finally fallen into the real climax of the year. The spring weather has added a great deal of zest to life although somewhat curtailing one's desire to study. We have been through the final set of hour exams and will they be remembered! The frosh ball team has played through a satisfactory season only losing one game—to Yale '36. And the golf squad is undefeated and tennis is looking up. All in all we have had a very satisfactory year in athletics. It's plain now that although our teams have been really informal, we have not lost out in enjoyment and results. We may be coming to take our athletics as recreation and not occupation, which is as it should be.
Spring football practice, of former mention, has now but two more days to live. Three weeks of fundamental play along with real scrimmage work has really gone well and will doubtless count for a whole lot next fall. Practically all of our freshmen squad has been in action and it appears now that we will not be without representation in the hard schedule next fall.
The class has had its first social opportunity in the annual Green Key Prom. It may be a good sign, according to the best traditions, that '36 men assumed an air of suavity and depth under the power of a feminine visitor's smile!
This affair over, we now face only a week or so of classes, then a short reading period, and then final exams. It is a short time left. We have had our chance and doubtless have had our weak moments, but there is one consolation in the fact that we are broken in. We should all feel that we know what college is like and we have three years ahead in which to capitalize on our chances. Whether we see it in the right way or not, we cannot escape the fact that education once grasped will not disappear. We have had a great year and now we can look ahead to three more with each one a little better than its predecessor.
