Five senior nominees for the Barrett Cup award were voted upon by the three upper classes of the College on April 28. The men named for this highest undergraduate award by the faculty committee on candidates were Richard Parker Goldthwait, of Hanover, N. H.; Everett Huntington Hymen, of Milwaukee, Wis.; Richard Jackson, of Medford, Mass.; Kenneth Merwin Spang, of Berea, Ohio; and Lyman Eldredge Wakefield Jr., of Minneapolis, Minn.

The senior who is chosen in the annual election of "that member of the senior class whom the three upper classes choose as giving the greatest promise of becoming a factor in the outside world through his strength of character and qualities of Jeadership, record of scholarship and broad achievement, and his influence among his fellows" will have his name engraved on the Barrett All-Round Achievement Cup and will receive the Barrett Gold Medal. According to custom, the winner will be announced at the celebration of Wet Down on May 27.

Goldthwait is chairman of the executive council of the Dartmouth Outing Club and is also director of trips for that organization. He has won his letter as a member of the winter sports team for the past three years. He is a member of Zeta Psi, Green Key, Casque and Gauntlet, Phi Beta Kappa, Palaeopitus, and Cabin and Trail.

Hymen, a Senior Fellow, headed the 1933 directorate of The Dartmouth as editor-in-chief. He is a member of the swimming team, vice-president of the Arts, and was recommended by the New Hampshire committee as a Rhodes Scholarship candidate. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Jackson, who is a Senior Fellow, was captain of this year's hockey team as well as of his freshman team. He is a member of the board of governors of the Arts and has played leading roles in the dramatic productions of The Players. He is a member of Alpha Delta Phi, Green Key, Casque and Gauntlet, Phi Beta Kappa, Palaeopitus, and the Undergraduate Fire Squad. He is also a member of the executive committee of the class of 1933.

Spang, who was manager of football last season, is president of Palaeopitus and is one of the three undergraduate members of the Athletic Council. He is a member of Phi Gamma Delta, Green Key, Casque and Gauntlet, and Palaeopitus.

Wakefield, who is business manager of The Dartmouth, has been a member of the winter sports team throughout his college course and captained the team this year. He has been intercollegiate figureskating champion for four years. Wakefield was elected president of the senior class at the recent elections. He is a member of Psi Upsilon, Dragon, and Palaeopitus, and was president of Green Key during his junior year.
