Greeted by an audience so large that his lecture had to be shifted from 103 Dartmouth to Webster Hall, Norman Thomas, Socialist candidate for President, visited Hanover on the evening of May 4 and spoke on the accomplishments of the Roosevelt administration. Mr. Thomas expressed amazement at the capacity and energy of the President, but completely disagreed with the banking, railroad, and reconstruction bills after giving his hearty approval to the Muscle Shoals legislation.
