As a memorial to William Morrill '74, of Exeter, N. H., his daughter, May E. Morrill, bequeathed the College her estate at her death May 16. Dartmouth is named residuary legatee in the will. It is expected that the bequest, which will be known as the William Morrill Memorial Fund, will amount to about $50,000. Included in the property is a house in Exeter and a 200-acre farm in Brentwood, N. H.
Miss Morrill only stipulates that the income from the Morrill Fund shall be used in the scientific department of the College. A portrait of Mr. Morrill also comes to Dartmouth.
Mr. Morrill was a loyal supporter of the College. He contributed to the Alumni Fund from its earliest days through 1923. He died in Exeter, August 6, 1924. Miss Morrill continued his gifts to the Alumni Fund, having them credited to the 1874 class quotas as memorial gifts every year until her recent death.
