Organized summer activities were tried for the first time in years, with the response and fund beyond expectations. The five major city associations played host to golfers, good and bad. HARRY FISHER '26 (Hartford) was in charge and he made a fine job of it. Perhaps a conscience put him to work. Anyone with a consistent eighty-three, tournament after tournament, should do a lot of work to compensate for a load of prizes.

BRIDGEPORT MAY 24th

The first tournament was held on the date of the annual State dinner. Brooklawn's heavily trapped course had the best of the pack in trouble, but early season must have been the cause. SARG EATON '11, a tough fellow to beat, had low gross. PAT PARTRIDGE 'II (Hartford) copped low net.

NEW HAVEN JUNE 20th

New Haven Whit Gowrie '24, Bob Scott '17, Virgil McNeal '28, Leo Caproni '11, George Adams '09; Waterbury George Horan '23, Francis Smith '23; HartfordCharlie Rice '23; Bridgeport Prentiss Gallup '24, John Conners '14.

New Haven Country Club. WHIT GOWRIE and 808 SCOTT ran the party. PRENTISS GALLUP '24 gave a movie show of the YALEDARTMOUTH football games, additional to the Connecticut Association film. BOB SCOTT '17 won the golf honors.

WATERBURY AUGUST 2nd

Hartford Pat Partridge '11, Harry Fisher '26, Charlie Rice '23; Bridgeport Bob Hayes '38, Earl Hayes, John Conners '14; Waterbury Doc Hennessy '23, Francis Smith '23. Ralph Payne '10, Dr. Herr '06; Naugatuck J. Talbot '22.

Held at the Waterbury Country Club. Late afternoon tournament following the finals of the New England Championship. HARRY FISHER '26, chairman, also took the honors with an 83. Another showing of the Connecticut Association film. Late party, but one of the best.

NEW BRITAIN SEPTEMBER 6th

New Britain Dr. Potts '05, Emery Corbin '21, Curtis Sheldon '09, Dick Pritchard '14, Bill Moore '19, Ed Steinle; Hartford Harry Fisher '26, Ken Weeks '26; NewHaven Whit Gowrie '24, H. Blaisdell '15; Bridgeport Stanley Curtis '24, John Conners '14.

Held at the Shuttle Meadow Club. BILL MOORE '19 and DICK PRITCHARD '14 handled the party. VALV FLOOD, pro at Shuttle Meadow and George S. Sparling, pro at Brooklawn, made the party very interesting with their golf yarns at dinner. Yale friends and guests nearly outnumbered us. HARRY FISHER '26 again won low gross with a nice 83, and BILL MOORE '19 captured low net. KENNETH WEEKS '26 State President was very much on the job. State Association movies ended another fine Summer session.

HARTFORD SEPTEMBER 27th

The final golf party held at the Avon Country Club, was favored with a good lurnout:

Bridgeport Earl M. Hayes, John F. Conners '14; New Britain Walter J. Moore '19; Hartford Harold G. Stearns '12, Donald Burnham '27, Harry J. Ocktavec '25, C. M. Middlebrook '28, Jack Saladine '17, Wilson C. Blake '23, Elliott Cogswell '06, Irving H. Worth '20, Robert H. Bragg '25, E. W. Stone '94, W. G. Baxter, Honorary, Kenneth Weeks '26, Chandler Greene '16, Albert L. Robinson '24, Sont '23, Dr. Andruss '02, Harry J. Fisher '26, Milton A. Wilson '20, Marshall Lovegrove '27 (Providence).

HARRY FISHER '26 (Hartford) has made a habit of winning tournament prizes and collected again with an 84. MARSHALL LOVEGROVE '27, engineered prize recognition for having travelled the greatest distance (Bridgeport and Providence). WILLIAM G. BAXTER, honorary member, came in for his share of laurels for the oldest, in competition with an enthusiastic crowd of comparative youngsters. Hanover movies, Yale-Dartmouth football movies, and the Connecticut Association movies were shown. Very favorable comment on the Avon Country Club course and its facilities helped the party a great deal. KENNETH WEEKS '26, State President, led a discussion regarding Hartford and State Association activities for the coming year. JACK SALADINE '17, was a most active supporter of the Alumni Fund, and was the prime mover in getting action for a Connecticut delegation to attend one of the early season games at Hanover.

CONNECTICUT STATE ASSOCIATION

Officers

President....Kenneth Weeks '26, Hartford Vice-President

Dick Pritchard '14, New Britain Secretary....Jack Conners '14, Bridgeport Executive Committee: John Booth '23, Danbury; Stuart Cleaveland '27, Torrington; John Clark '32, New Canaan; Harold Rider '25, Stamford; Mayor Ed. Moran '24, Norwich.

CITY ASSOCIATIONS

Waterbury

President Al Martin '24; Secretary Steele Smith '32.

The Winter season for this club starts with the annual sheep roast. Meets first Tuesday of each month, and probably holds the best average attendance at their meetings. This club has 83 members, and has a strong undergraduate delegation year in, year out.

Charles McCarthy '88, Ned Herr '06, George Horan '23, Francis Smith '23, Al Martin '24, Steele Smith '32, Ralph Paine '10, and the rest of the active group are the dependables responsible for an excellent organization.

Hartford

President H. W. Alcorn '23; Secretary Charlie Rice '23.

The largest group in the State, with 257 members. The Hartford Club is usually able to stage four good meetings each season. Plans are now stirring for some sort of a party on the night before the Yale game. Unless private party plans conflict, an announcement will cover all details, shortly.

New Haven

President Eric Ball '18; Secretary Whit Gowrie '24.

No regular meetings have been planned as yet for the New Haven group. Whit Cowrie has been doing a fine job as secretary. Eric Ball and George Adams are the heavy workers.

Even though New Haven has 115 members, the group at Yale Station come and go each year, and graduate work seems to afford little opportunity for alumni contact. Manning Sprague '33, has helped a great deal in holding interest and support of the graduate group. Whit Gowrie '24, is making plans for periodic meetings during the winter season.

New Britain

President Al Schilling '02; Secretary Bill Moore '24.

Although the smallest group of the city associations, with only 46 members, the New Britain group is very active, stressing particularly a keen interest in undergraduates and prospects. Dr. Potts '05, has done excellent service in this regard for many years. New Britain leadership now rests with Al Schilling '02, Bill Moore '24 and Dick Pritchard '14, State Association Vice-President. Curt Sheldon '09, and Phil Pelletier '15 are always ready with a helping hand.

Bridgeport

President Dr. Sides '08; Secretary Harry White '25.

The Bridgeport alumni group with 74 members, meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Last season, variations from the routine gathering at the University Club were tried. Cellar parties at the homes of several members proved a big success and very likely will be carried on this year. Reg Horton '27, Sarg Eaton '11, Stan Lonsdale '24, Charles Jameson '25, are regular subscribers.

FATHERS' ASSOCIATION

President Dr. Sprague; Secretary H. B. Narramore; Treasurer Dr. Lieberthal.

Man for man, there is as much Dartmouth enthusiasm in the Fathers' Association as in any alumni group. This Association was organized three years ago and joined with the alumni in all their meetings and activities Any father of a Dartmouth man is eligible, and the addition to the membership of the Bridgeport group has strengthened the organization, particularly the sponsorship of a student aid fund now in operation for three years. This fund has been increased each year by good support to the Musical Club concerts, and summer theatre profits. This is, by far, the outstanding work of the Bridgeport Club, and major credit for the job belongs to the Fathers' Association.

The first meeting in September featured undergraduate night. About 50 alumni and fathers were hosts to the undergraduates, and prospects for next year's entering class. This meeting will undoubtedly be featured in succeeding years, judging from this year's results.

EASTERN ASSOCIATION

President Dr. Hugh F. Lena '12; Secretary Arthur V. Shurts '30.

The Eastern Association organized through the efforts of Hugh Lena has been most encouraging. Lena gave a grand party at his summer home and with Shurts covering the secretary's job in such grand fashion, it should be the start of a fine organization. No regular meetings are planned, but with 40 members in the New London area, there will be action.

WESTERN ASSOCIATION

No organized club has been attempted as yet, but the Stamford area looks promising.

ALUMNI COUNCIL

Dick Pritchard '14, New Britain, was appointed to the Alumni Council in June. Dick will do a fine piece of work for the Council, and in recognition of the part he can play, his committee work has been programmed well in advance. Connecticut has clamored for Council representation for a good many years. That the suggestion for Pritchard's appointment to fill an unexpired term was unsolicited should satisfy all concerned.

NOTES

The last check with the Records Office brings Connecticut's total alumni up to 845. Returns on undergraduates are incomplete. We show:

3 Special Students; 38 Seniors; 47 Juniors; 38 Sophomores; 51 Freshmen.

We are canvassing the state for the latest information on every alumnus, in order that all class secretaries may be kept up to the minute.

Secretary.
