The annual Financial Report of Dartmouth College lists as the largest addition to endowment funds during the past year the bequest of Maria K. Gould in memory of Charles. The amount received was $40,446.39, and is set down as for the Dartmouth College Alumni Fund. Mr. Edgerton, in reply to an inquiry as to the terms of the bequest, writes:

"It was not set up in the form of a fundof which the annual income is credited tothe class. It is expressed in such broadterms that the principal as well as the interest may be used for the purposes of theCollege in case the Alumni Fund authorities so approve. This represents a differenttype of fund than has heretofore been setup under the Alumtii Fund, and is a typeof fund which, it seems to me, is of maximum usefulness to the institution. It willappear hereafter in the report of theAlumni Fund under a heading of its own.I hope that the existence of such a fundmay encourage others in other classes tomake similar provisions. This is not intended to preclude such action on the partof other members of the class of 1892."

In accordance with this plan, the Report shows a separate entry for the Charles H. Gould Memorial Fund, which is invested with Associated Endowments. There is also credited to the Alumni Fund as income from these investments, $150.30, which represents the income for a comparatively short period.

The Portland (Me.) Sunday Telegramand Press, in its issue of October 7, had an article on Randall. It included a sketch of his life, and emphasized particularly his service to Maine in the establishment of the Commonwealth Art Colony at Booth- bay Harbor, which for many years has been attracting visitors from ail parts of the country. Randall, by the way, has now retired from active participation in the management of the Colony, although he still teaches there summers. During the winter, you will recall, he teaches drawing in the Classical High School at Providence, R. I., and also is coach of a debating team which has been most successful.
