While penning this month's news roundup, I can't help but think that this is the time of year when all of us are re-evaluating our various accomplishments and involvements of 1964. At the same time, we are probably thinking about our respective roles for that New Year just around the corner. With this in mind, I think it is apropos to quote a small but memorable section of Mr. Eisenhower's State of the Union message in 1953: "In every area of political action, free men must think before they can expect to win. In this spirit must we live and labor: confident of our strength, compassionate in our heart, clear in our mind. In this spirit, let us together turn to the great tasks before us."

Kent Crane certainly must be logging some interesting experiences while serving with the Foreign Service. Kent has recently established his family in Zanzibar where he is vice-consul at the American Consulate. He arrived in Zanzibar about the time that the government was overthrown and is now observing the revolutionary government attempting to stave off any counter-coups through repressive measures. Kent's initial assignment as a Foreign Service officer was in Djakarta where I am sure there was never a dull moment. Kent and his wife Linda have two offspring, Jeffrey and James.

Dan Fearn has established a residence in Akron, Ohio, where he is associated with Goodyear International. Alden Blackman is Chief Resident in Medicine at Washington, D. C., General Hospital.

Galen Clough is an instructor at Evansville College in Evansville, Ind. Enjoying that great Southern California smog is Rod Burkley who is an attorney with Los Angeles County. Bob Schwarz is a clinical associate at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. According to my sketchy information, Herb Roskind has the title of Trader at the International Chemical Corporation in New York. I'm trot sure if Trader refers to commodities or what, so how about briefing me, Herb?

Ron Read is associated with Bendix Corporation Research Laboratories'" in South- field, Mich. Ron's home is nearby Birmingham. Pete Nessen is now a partner with the accounting firm, Henry J. Bornhofft Co. in Lexington, Mass. In Kansas City, Mo., that is, George Morrison is an associate in the legal firm of Popham, Thompson, Popham Trusty & Co. Another lawyer who has established residence in Kansas City after a two-year stint with the FTC in Washington, D. C., is Bob Goodman. Bob is a member of the staff at Margolin and Kirwan.

Hard at work in the New Product Development department of Scott Paper is Phil Lippincott. Phil and family reside in Marlton, N. J. Another '57 in the academic world is Bill Laverty who is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. From Denver comes news that Jan Wlodarkiewicz is with the Electronic Data Processing division of RCA where his job title is systems analyst. Dick Welsh is also associated with the computer industry but in a different capacity. Dick is a computer sales representative with I.B.M. in Denver.

Last June a small covey of '57s received their LL.B.'s from Harvard. This group of new attorneys included: Walter Burkley, Brad Gorham, Gerald Jones, and Jim Mayer. During the same month Bob Baehr received a Master of- Arts degree from the University of Colorado.

Merwyn Bagan recently joined the married ranks when he married Carol Joseph of Pelham Manor, N. Y. Carol is an alumna of Skidmore and also attended the University of Oslo. The bridegroom, an M.D., is with the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Blindness at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md.

Don White has been appointed resident manager of Price Waterhouse's branch in Medellin, Colombia. Prior to this promotion, Don was a member of the same firm's Boston office.

Taking time out from his academic pursuits was Rod Hinkle when he joined forces with Margaret Polga last August in St. Paul. Rod's bride, an alumna of the College of St. Catherine, did graduate work at the University of London and Makerere College, Kampala, Uganda. Margaret is a Ford Fellow and a candidate for a master's at Columbia. The newlyweds are now living in New York.

The Toddler Section drew a blank this month ... no new addition news arrived in time so here's hoping we have a cumulative effect next time. However, I can very positively say there has been a new addition in the Dalton abode. And now we are four, as the saying goes, because Janet Elizabeth arrived just before Hallowe'en. Our life is something less than "organized" in a typical post-new-baby fashion.

By the time this reaches you the Holidays will be upon us. From all of us in the Dalton family, here's wishing you the happiest of Christmases and a most prosperous and fulfilling New Year.
