Hockey at Dartmouth attained a new high level on January 20 when one of the best-drilled teams ever seen in Hanover turned the tables on Yale, 3 to 1, in the Green's initial encounter in the newly formed Quadrangular Hockey League. The game was the first real trial for Coach Gill and his charges, and the Green puckmen made an unexpectedly strong showing by outskating and outsmarting their Eli rivals. Dartmouth's victory over Yale was the first since February, 1927, when the Indians eked out a 4-3 decision.

Paul Guibord, sophomore wing from Melrose, Mass., set the pace for his Green teammates and netted two of their three goals. He was the fastest man on the ice, which, incidentally, was in excellent condition, and his speed was more than the Blue defense could cope with in the final period. Frank Spain, Dartmouth's diminutive center, contributed a solo dash in the second period to tie the score, and it was his pass from behind the cage which enabled Guibord to send the Indians into the lead soon after the final session began. Guibord's second goal was made unassisted when he skimmed down the left side of the rink, evaded three Blue defenders, and sent a waist-high shot past Snyder, the Eli goalie.
