The present freshman class at Dartmouth set a new scholastic record at the end of the semester just closed when & per cent of its members passed all their courses without failure. This record, made by 552 out of 670 freshmen, is three per cent higher than that made by last year's freshman class.
Only 67 of the 104 freshmen warned because of failures at mid-semester were among those failing subjects at the end of the term, it was announced by Robert C. strong, dean of freshmen. Nine men, comprising approximately one per cent of the class, have been separated from college because of scholastic delinquency. Fifty-eight members of the class have been placed upon scholastic probation.
Despite the high general average of the first-year class, no perfect four-point records were made. Two freshmen attained an average of 3.9, while 55, or approximately eight per Cent, received better than 3.0.
No separations and one probation were meted out to the seniois; no separations and 62 probations were the lot of the juniors; and two separations and 108 probations gave the sophomores a dubious scholastic distinction.
