Mr. W. W. Niles is president of the Taconic State Park Commisison of New York. He has received a gold medal from the American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society for his services on the Commission, and for previous services as vicepresident of the Bronx River Parkway Commission.
Fannie (Emerson) Bixby, widow of John H. Bixby, died in a Newark, N. J., hospital February 5 of pneumonia, following an operation for appendicitis. She was born in Rochester, Vt., 64 years ago. She was a teacher before her marriage in 1889, and taught with her husband after their marriage. After his death in 1901 she con- tinued teaching, and taught in the public schools of New Jersey for 25 years. Since her retirement from public school work she has taught adult classes in English in the Italian quarter of Newark.
