Samuel W. Robertson and Mrs. Robertson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary November 26 at the home of their son, Alfred Robertson, attorney, 1524 Dover Road, Santa Barbara, Calif. They were married November 26, 1883, at the bride's home in St. Johnsbury, Vt.

After completing a quarter of a century as an educator and participant in public affairs in the New England states, he moved to Santa Barbara in 1909 and joined the faculty of the high school, where he remained for 20 years, winning a place in the hearts of Santa Barbara's school-going population. While busy with his classroom work, he was twice elected on a committee to frame a charter for the city and served for six years on the police and firemen's pension board, most of the time as chairman. After retirement he was elected to the city school board and served as chairman. He is known as "Daddy" Robertson throughout the city, not only because he was the oldest of the faculty members in the high school but chiefly as a token of affection from the thousands of boys and girls who went through the city school system during his service. His capacity for understanding the viewpoint of the young made him a valued counselor and advisor to the youngsters and to their parents.
