A New Fund Quota
May 1935 The Editors

SIX THOUSAND Dartmouth men on the Alumni Fund rolls for 1935 is the objective of the Alumni Fund campaign launched on the 20th of April with the mailing of the Fund Committee's opening announcement. "The Dartmouth College Case," to all Dartmouth men. Chairmanned by John W. Hubbell '21, of New York, the committee of the Alumni Council which directs this, the Council's most important project, has announced the third "No Quota" campaign. This choice of policy has been made optimistically for 1935, on the basis of last year's improvement over the previous year, which was substantial in amount but most notable in number of contributors. With the strong emphasis on number of contributions rather than the amount of the individual gift, the Committee has proposed to the class agents that an effort be made to bring back into participation those former contributors who had dropped out during the last three years. With a growing constituency and the appeal which the "No Quota" idea obviously has, the Committee justifies the "Six Thousand Dartmouth Men," objective, 300 better than the former high point of 5,683, altogether possible of attainment. And with it there would naturally follow a gratifying total amount.

THE SHIFT OF practically the entire responsibility for the campaign to the class agents may well prove to be a permanent one. An essential development from the "No Quota" program. This feature has become a strong asset of the Fund in the careful and individual way in which the agents have taken over the entire load of solicitation. This has been especially impressive in the large young classes which have risen to their responsibilities with the development of effective organizations and a new technique for getting into personal touch with their many classmates. The high percentage of participation in such classes as 1930 and 1931 augurs well for the future of the College, if these classes are to prove typical of what may be expected from the younger generation of Dartmouth alumni.
