SINCE THE brief article about John Poor several interesting and typical anecdotes have been received.

One day John appeared on the street considerably lame and infirm. When asked what the trouble was he said he fell down the stairs in Dartmouth Hall and "I want to tell you that after I hit the first two steps it got to be damned monotonous."

One night John attended a meeting of an organization whose Walking Delegate was present and extremely voluble. He had a banner which he waved throughout his talk telling of the glories it had seen, the growth it had witnessed so that it had become ragged with perpetual triumphs. He talked for two solid hours imagining himself perhaps, a member of the U. S Senate. When he finally sat down exhausted, John was called on to speak as the local dignitary present. He arose slowly and painfully and said, "I have only one word that there flag is not as worn and thin as the seat of my pants."

One day John was walking down Main Street with Dean Laycock. His head was down and he seemed all out of sorts with the world. Finally the Dean said, "Look up John and see all the beautiful things around us. It's a glorious day and Hanover is wonderful. Hitch your wagon to a star." "Well, I did," said John, "but the britchin' broke."
