Dartmouth-in-politics seems to be a negligible factor as far as New York is concerned, for after several weeks of strenuous armchair investigation we found only two of our men tangled up in the forthcoming gathering of the poll-cats. John Keller '32 is over at the Biltmore doing research work for the Democrats, and Dick O'Daniel '35 is (or was, we aren't sure) gathering funds for the Republican Finance Committee. Both are said to be in line for good cabinet positions, but are willing to settle for the assistant postmastership of White River Junction, Vt.
Another political touch was provided in a recent speech by our fellow New Yorker, Alt. E. Smith, when he caused a coast-to-coast wince among Green alumni by saying, "and as the president of Darthmowth College said, etc." Alf can get by with that "raddio" business, but he needs a few lessons in getting votes from Dartmouth men.
A third touch was provided when a mys terious admirer sent us a copy of the At lantic Monthly, with a stern and compelling finger pointing to Prexy's article in the front cover index. The mysterious admirer turned out to be the Atlantic's circulation manager, making a vain bid for our trade; the speech revealed itself to be Dr. Hopkins' political credo, and we're going to be afraid to go back to Hanover, now that so many people have seen us with our Roosevelt button on our lapel.
