Your reporter celebrated Dartmouth Night with the Chicago Club, but echoes indicate that the Southern California delegation tinted the town its traditional dark green.

This year's party featured a noble experiment, no Big Speech. It worked out fine, let everybody get around with everybody else in an easy going informality, and got a lot more singing done than is usually practical. The meeting keyed around the special Dartmouth Night transcription which the College prepared and sent out to the more distant alumni groups this year (at which point L.A. takes an immodest bow for having originated the notion last year). President Dickey spoke superbly, the Glee Club was wonderful, and Allen Foley '20 gave out an impersonation of a Craven Laycock speech that killed our older brethren, and teed off President BobWilliams '26 and henchmen into a session of Laycock reminiscences. Williams introduced old-timers Harry Lill '05, Tubby Layton '06, and Ed Martin '09 during the evening, greeted Wylie Jones '24, down from Bakersfield for the occasion, and extended our warmest welcome to Chick Obermayer '23, Bud Purdy '29, Lloyd King '47, JohnnyNacos '4B, Sturge Spanos '49, Karl Marsh '50, Dick Kerwin '50, and Dick Smith '52. All of whom we hope to see regularly from now on.

Earlier in October Eck Hiestand '10 hosted a luncheon at the University Club for KenHenderson '16 of Chicago, new head of the Alumni Fund, a small deal for officers and those of Ken's classmates who could make it. Next on the agenda, the annual luncheon for Tuss McLaughry, on or about January 2. Tuss always makes a good guest, try to greet him. See you there.
