One of the political events which has aroused much comment in Massachusetts, and in fact throughout the country, was the removal, by Governor Curley, of Payson Smith as commissioner of education. As a result of this removal, three members of the advisory board of education immediately resigned, and one of the three was Walter V. McDuffee of our class. Mac has been on the board since 1918 and has given the faithful and efficient service we should expect of him. His resignation was the strongest possible protest he could make against the irreparable harm which he felt Dr. Smith's removal did to education in Massachusetts.
Have you a terrarium in your home? Why not? The terrarium furnishes an answer to the desire of thousands of nature lovers who wish to preserve a bit of woodland beauty in their homes. I know this is true because Charley Lamprey said so in a recent edition of the Boston SundayHerald, and what Charley says about such things is the last word. Charley was responsible for the introduction of terrariums as exhibits in the spring flower show of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. You don't know what a terrarium is? Why, it's a box made entirely of glass in which you keep mosses, lichens, ferns, wildflowers, and such, if you know enough. Charley will, no doubt, be glad to tell you just how to do it.
