'92 Reunion Notes
'92's Fortieth-Year Reunion was an unqualified success. Both in attendance and in spirit, it surpassed any previous gathering.
Hanover is always home to a Dartmouth man, but Ed and Mrs. Hall made it particularly so to '92 by throwing wide their doors to the reunion bunch. Some fifty of us gathered there on Saturday afternoon for a delightfully informal renewing friendship party, which ended with some clever limericks and a phonograph record greeting from Cox, our Pacific Coast member. About seven, the men departed to their dinner, leaving the ladies to enjoy the hospitality of Mrs. Hall at supper, after which they all attended "The Streets of New York."
The reunion dinner was held in a private dining room in the Commons, where Pres. Salinger conducted us through a speaking program that was fine in quality—and in brevity.
Sunday came the outing at Orford Lodge, Orford, which we can unhesitatingly recommend to any reunion class looking for charming grounds, delicious food, and perfect freedom. In the evening, we were well represented at the President's reception.
Monday noon, the ladies gathered at Mrs. Hall's for luncheon, while the men proceeded en masse from our headquarters in North Massachusetts to the Alumni Dinner. Twenty-four of us filled a long table and the contents of the long table filled us. We enjoyed all the speaking, but the real thrill for the class came when the toastmaster announced that the '94 Cup for the class having the largest percentage of living graduates present at the reunion was awarded to the class of '92, which had twenty-eight members out of forty-one present—68.3 per cent. As there were two non-grads with us, our total enrollment was thirty men, together with twenty wives and three children.
Unfortunately, most of us had to leave Monday afternoon, but the few who could stay over had the pleasure of witnessing the honor which came to a classmate when Baldwin was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science at the Commencement exercises on Tuesday.
Those in attendance were: Allen and George Allen, Baldwin, Barton and Mrs. Barton, Belknap and Mrs. Belknap, Bliss and Mrs. Bliss, Blood, Cook, Coombs and Mrs. Coombs, Coon and Mrs. Coon, Doty and Mrs. Doty, Earl, Emerson and Mrs. Emerson, Geiger and Mrs. Geiger, Hall and Mrs. Hall, Hayes and Mrs. Hayes, Holland and Mrs. Holland, Lamprey and Mrs. Lamprey, Lord and Mrs. Lord, McDuffee (W. Y.) and Mrs. McDuffee, Norton and Mrs. Norton, Noyes and Mrs. Noyes, Potter, Rogers, Salinger and Mrs. Salinger, Sargent and Mrs. Sargent, Shurtleff and Mrs. Shurtleff, Strong and Mrs. Strong, Thompson, Weeks, Weston and Beth and Florence Weston.
