Soon summer will be here, and that means the TUMULTUOUS TWENTIETH on June 17 and 18 is upon us. Those indicating they will be there number many more than have ever attended a '48 reunion in the past. You have seen the great program lined up by Dick Barlow, so let's hope everyone has A great time.

I just received notice Gordie Winkler is back in Africa. After spending two years with the United States Information Service in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Gordie and Peggy and their three boys came home to Chicago for a few months' vacation; They were then reassigned to the U. S. Embassy in Accra, the capital of Ghana, which has been their home for the last three months. Gordie is again in charge of publicity and news, as he is the senior information officer at the Embassy.

Five promotions were announced by the Travelers Insurance Company early last spring, and Bob Sherman was one of those promoted. Bob became secretary in the field operations division of the casualty property department. Bob has been with the Company since graduation and has gradually moved up to his present position. He, Muriel and the two boys live in West Hartford.

It was nice to hear that Dick Green has become an assistant vice-president at Eaton & Howard and occupies the position of senior research associate. Dick is doing an excellent job, and I am sure will keep moving up the ladder. Incidentally, he and Lynn are expecting their second child any week now.

If you had to pick a perfect time for a convention in Japan, April would be the month. Dr. Jerold Lucey, who is associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Vermont College of Medicine, addressed the General Assembly of Japan Medical Congress in Kyoto on April 2. He was one of three American 1 physicians invited, and while in Japan gave talks before several medical societies and colleges.

Dave Meeker has again been given a more responsible position at Hobart Manufacturing Co. in Troy, Ohio, the company you or your wife probably know as the manufacturer of Kitchen Aid Dishwashers. Dave, after serving as treasurer and director, is now executive vice-president in charge of operations.

Jere Poole, Air Force captain, was in California recently to compete for the Blanchard Trophy in the first Strategic Air Command Missile Combat Competition. He is a missile combat crew commander on the Minuteman team from the 44th Strategic Missile Wing stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. Jere, who served in the Korean war, was commissioned in 1951 through the aviation cadet program. Our news doesn't tell whether wife Darielle was able to go to California to cheer him on.

I had a nice talk with Art Kosse the other day. Art lived in Denver for many years before recently moving back to his native Long Island. We hope we can see Art at some of our Dartmouth functions soon.

Word has been received that John Anderson is now living in Gilroy, Calif., where he has moved from Menlo Park. John is with Malkin Laboratories as a medical bioanalyst.

The Tom Matthews family has moved to Burbank, Calif., where they have a bigger house, which his wife, Biddy, is very thankful for. Their son, Tom, is now sixteen, and Jane is almost fifteen. Tom is in sales with the diversified, fast-growing, young electronic components manufacturer, Electronic Specialty Company.

Things are booming these days at McDonnell with the recent merger with Douglas. Among those moving forward with the company is Riley Frankline, who is now a senior engineer. Riley, Geraldine, and their family moved - another home in the country on a street with the bucolic name of Strawberry Way.

One of the eighty-five or so who is expecting to come up for the reunion is DaveLoye with his wife, Billy. I haven't seen much of Dave, even though he lives in Princeton. Dave is in the public relations department of Cunningham & Walsh, the prominent ad agency in New York.

Also heard from Stan Churchill, who expects to be in Hanover the weekend of June 17 and 18. Stan is a veterinarian living in Orleans, Vt. Last reports indicate he and Eleanor have two sons.

By now I hope all of you have done your best for the Alumni Fund, because, as you know, costs have risen sharply for all colleges. For those who haven't sent in a check yet, please be advised that it isn't too late, so send it now!
