Pat Kaney's gym team opened its 1936 season on February 15 and met defeat at the hands of the strong Navy team, 35 to 19, in Hanover. By sweeping the high-bar and rope-climbing events, the Midshipmen romped away to an early 18-point lead, which was too much for the Indians to overcome. Dave Herrmann took the sidehorse event for Dartmouth, and Dick Morton captured the other Green first in the tumbling. Seconds by Green gymnasts were won by Karl Wolf in the parallel bars, Paul Hessler in the rings, and Frank Moister in the tumbling.
