Harry Hillman's track squad also went south for the vacation, and came back to the chilly north with a clean sweep of three meets, including that with the southern conference champions of Duke. In their first contest, on March 28, the Green trackmen dropped only two first places and slaughtered William and Mary, 102 to 24. North Carolina, southern conference champion last year and runner-up to Duke in the indoor championships this winter, was the second victim, absorbing the worst defeat it has suffered since 1906 when it came out on the short end of an to score. Dartmouth's chances against Duke were considered rather slim, but the Indians swept the final discus event and gained a one-point victory, 6314 to 621/2.

Park Johnston '37 came through with a magnificent discus throw that sent him from fourth place far out ahead of Tony Geniawicz '37 and Bill Dwyer '36 and gave Dartmouth the nine points needed to win the meet. Each team garnered seven firsts and seven seconds, with the Indians winning thirds to 6½ for the southern champions.

Jack Donovan won both hurdle races and finished third in the 100-yard dash to lead the scoring against Duke. The sophomore was high scorer for the entire trip, with Tony Geniawicz close behind by virtue of first place in the shot-put in each meet, and two firsts and a second in the discus. Outstanding performances were also turned in by Johnny Hoffstetter '37, who was undefeated in the 440-yard dash, winning at Chapel Hill in 49.4 seconds and at Durham in 49.2 seconds. He also took the 220-yard event against North Carolina in the fast time of 22.6 seconds. Captain Lane Donovan was on the heels of Hoffstetter in each quarter-mile race, and was one of the chief point-gatherers for Dartmouth.
