Camilla Schniebs, 10, daughter of the former Dartmouth ski coach, died at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital on Saturday, January 16, as the result of injuries received four days earlier when she was struck by an automobile in front of her home on Lyme Road. Just prior to the fatal accident Camilla had left the northbound Hanover school bus and had started across the road to her home simultaneously with the passing of a truck loaded with logs. Unseen behind the truck was a car driven by Thomas Sprague of Boston, which struck the Schniebs girl as it pulled out to pass the truck. Severe in ternal injuries were the cause of death after every effort had been made to save her life.
The accident was the first fatality to a school child in the Hanover community. Camilla was next to the youngest of three daughters in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Schniebs.
