President Hopkins' Tribute

Dear Mr. Rugg:

I am happy to avail myself of the privilege of adding a word to your special BULLETIN in commemoration of Mr. Goodrich'stwenty-fifth anniversary as Librarian. Atno other point in the College during theperiod covered by Mr. Goodrich's administration of library affairs have there beensuch striking multiplication of services andelaboration of facilities as have taken placein the College Library, and it is no smalltribute to Mr. Goodrich's capacities as alibrary administrator that all these develOpments have taken place without "growing pains." Not only has this been true, but all members and officers of the Collegehave enjoyed with rapidly mounting satisfaction the cumulatively richer and morevital role of the Library as the center ofthe intellectual life of the College. I delight in adding my congratulations to MrGoodrich, to whom must be assigned re-sponsibility in major degree for the fadthat the unusual library opportunitieswhich have come to us have been realizedin so distinguished a way.
