IF THE MEN the Central Pennsylvania Club sent to the joint picnic— (and what a grand joint it was that "Al" Zulick '18 secured for the evening)—are a fair sample of the membership over Harrisburg way, we certainly should like to meet regularly with every man on their roster. For the September 16 shindig, that club sent 66 2/3% of its officers and a chaperone, Vice President Bill Page '06, Secretary Johnny Bogar '29, and H. G. (his nickname for Sept. 16 escapes your correspondent at the moment) Van Riper '14. We also had the pleasure of welcoming two of the local talent to their first get-together, Guy Mehlhorn '37, Hazleton lumber king, and Rog Graves '37, newest embryonic Bethlehem Steel executive, and to make the evening complete, we had with us Jim Reinhart, Lafayette College '36, who journeyed down from Hazleton with Guy.

Car No. 239, moved off the rails and up into the Blue Mountains as the nucleus for a cabin, was the scene of the frolic. Meeting in the shadow of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, between Hamburg and Orwigsburg, late in the evening there were unsubstantiated rumors that birds had been heard by unnamed members of the two clubs singing in the adjacent foliage. Al Zulick's Schuylkill Country Club prepared the repast and shipped things over, piping hot, on a truck; the feast more than lived up to its advance billing as the "Feed of the Year." The lads themselves provided all amusement needed for the evening. .... In addition to those already mentioned, "Dutch" Bausher '21, "Shorty" Gray '19, Andy Marshall '22, Jim Rick '31, Bob Ritter '18, Milt Shultz '30, Ken Smiley '21, and Charley Stickney '21 rounded out the happy gathering.

Our group recently has lost Louie Benezet '36, gone West to teach at Reed College (Oregon), and Charlie Prouty '31, gone in the opposite direction to study, across the pond, at Oxford. Sadness at such losses, however, is tempered by the acquisition of new members Rog "Bethsteel" Graves '37, Ed "Publicutility" Heath '38, and Wes "Wyomissing" Smith '28.
