A nice group of letters this month. I have them in a pile on my desk and will grab them at random and dish out the news!
Last January Clint Johnson was appointed manager of the Foreign Dept. of the Chemical Bank and Trust Cos., N. Y.- Nice going. Clint flew to Rio in November and after his return expects to spend several months in London.
No letter from Bud Phillips, but his secretary sent a note and incidentally a check for class dues, stating that Mr. Phillips is in Europe at present.
Shrimp Hale writes from Los Angeles, where he spent the summer, that he would be back in Akron soon.
Johnny Allen pens a short line that he likes it in Oregon. He sees Jack Ross '19 from time to time.
Art Pfeiffer in sending his check to Roc reports that on June 2 he was married in Winchendon, Mass. The gal, Frieda W. Diehl. Roc pens the note, "And we might add—the lady already signs the checks."
Tom Ainsworth was married October 7 to Mary Bowles at Bake's home in Philadelphia. In addition to the Bakes, Ginger and Romaine Bruce and Pat Leonhard '19 and wife were on hand. Due to a touch of sinus infection ye sec. was unable to attend.
Last month I met Wary Chamberlain on the sidewalks of New York. The old boy certainly looks prosperous. He related a get-together not too long ago with Tommy Thompson, Jake Gorton, and several other '20's. In the course of the evening the boys placed a call to Zack in San Francisco. Unfortunately for them and the Telephone Company Mr. Jordan was not at home.
After a long period of silence George Loehr reports that even though he's been in Florida for five years he still likes it a lot. To help things along he adds, "Fortunately business has been very much on the up grade for several years." This is far different from a line penned by Rog Pope of Swampscott, Mass., in answer to Roc's "How's everything?" Roy allows that there's "Lots of room to be better."
A note from Freddie Hamm states that he sees very few 'ao's in Chicago. He says, "Tell Charlie McGoughran he should get out here to check up."
Correction—Last month I stated that Sam Stratton had severed his connections with the Harvard Business School and was now affiliated with the Harvard Trust Cos. Red Tillson writes me that I am all wrong. Sam is still an associate professor at said school, although he is temporarily absent on a trip to Europe. The error was due to an address change I received from the College and I jumped at conclusions. The bank address was merely a temporary one while Sam was away. Sorry!
A long letter from Leo Ungar, Council Bluffs, lowa. Among other things he states that he was married three years ago and now has a daughter. The best part of the letter reads, "I am really planning to attend the 20th, and you can put down on your list that Leo, Alice, and Barbara will attend without fail."
Speaking of Reunion, Jim Robertson writes me that we better get under way with our plans, committees, etc. Will do. In case you may not know it, Jim is in the dry cleaning business, James E. Robertson, Inc., at Keene, N. H.—branches in Claremont, N. H., Brattleboro, Vt., Bellows Falls, Vt., and Greenfield, Mass.
Some address changes furnished by the College: Paul Canada; Paul formerly lived in Bernardsville, N. J., near Jim Chilcott, but has now moved to Scobeyville, N. J. His business affiliation is Merrill Lynch & Cos., 40 Wall St., New York. Dick Charlock's and my first job after we finished college were with this company.
Shell Oil Cos. has moved Jim Lund from Baltimore to Richmond, Va., Manager Lund's residence address is 3608 Seminary Ave., Richmond.
