Your Secretary starts his morning dictation with a letter to some member of the class of 191 A, hoping thereby to renew the personal associations that have lapsed, and to glean some notes of interest to the class for this column.
There are 89 subscribers to the ALUMNI MAGAZINE from the class of 1912, which was just 13 short of the number guaranteed by the class.
Billy Baxter's daughter Mary Jane, was born August 18, 1934.
The attractive booklet published by the Dartmouth Association of Northern California in January, 1938, contains the names of four 1912 men. Eugene McLaughlin has an address at Box 673, San Carlos, Calif., but we have no further specifications regarding his activities. These four men are all members of the Dartmouth Association of Northern California.
Ray Cabot is getting together the last of the class letters and replies to questionnaires for the Class Book, which will be sent to the printer shortly. By the way, some of you may not know that Ray and Eleanor, in June, 1928, adopted a small boy, Roger Washburn Cabot, born November 82, 1927. Quech says, "What do you feed your dog and why?"
Windy Gale writes from Wilson, N. Y., where he is selling veneers, plywood, lumber, etc., with the B. L. Gale Sales Cos. Your Secretary asked him if he wasn't president of the company, and he writes that not being incorporated, he has no title, but just goes on selling to anybody who wants to buy. He says that cherries were nearly a failure this year, or rather in 19S7>—th31 he only had 7 tons where he should have had 30. They still make good pies, however. Windy's family consists of Barbara, age 151/2, Catherine, age 141/2' A. H. Jr., nearly 12, Judith, nearly 9, Ruth, and himself (no age given); health all good. Windy's mother and father, whose hospitality your Secretary has experienced, are very well, and extremely lively for young folks. Mr. Gale celebrated his 79th birthday on January 25, and they jointly celebrated their golden wedding on December 27 last.
