Harry Preston, of the State Normal School, Keene, N. H., addressed the Women's Club of Hanover, March 10, in the parish house. The subject of his talk was "New Hampshire Industries in the Home." Harry is on the English staff at the State Normal School. He has made a thorough study of New Hampshire, including its architecture, folklore, history, scenery, and industry. In his address he showed how state industries are used in the homes and lives of the people of the state.

Stanley Besse was recently elected vice president of the council o£ the Clifton Ave. Community church of Brooklyn. N. Y. The council is the same body as the trustees.

I recently had a nice chat with "Pete" Bedell, who advises that he is seriously considering moving from Dedham, Mass., where he has resided for many years, to New York City, as his business is in the latter city and the commuting home for week-ends is beginning to be a little tedious. Pete's son Robert is a sophomore at Hanover. He made the freshman baseball team last year and will be out for the varsity.

The Lafayette Chamberlins are planning to open their summer cottage at Yarmouth on Cape Cod early in May, for a longer than usual season.

The Secretary expects that the new issue of the '05 News will be in the hands of the class before this issue of the MAGAZINE reaches them, but if there is any unforseen delay, it will reach them shortly thereafter.

This being one of the last issues of the MAGAZINE for the current year, I should like to ask each man who reads these notes to try to send in, during the summer, as much news as possible, not only about himself and his family, but of any of the other fellows he may happen to run across or hear from, so that we may get off to a good start in the fall numbers. I also want to take this occasion to thank all of those who have sent in news items during the past year and to assure them of my sincere appreciation.

ELECTION OF DR. PREIS, D. E,

It is with pleasure that we announce the election of Dr. Carl G. Preis of New York City to honorary membership in the class. Dr. Preis is vice president of the American Can Company, in charge of the engineering. Last June Dartmouth conferred upon him the honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering. He has taken a keen interest in, and is very enthusiastic about, Dartmouth affairs, and has no other college affiliations. In the absence of the possibility of any class meeting until the next reunion, the executive committee, under the provisions of the class constitution and also upon the advice of some of the legal fraternity of the class, concluded that they had the necessary authority to consider and act upon this matter, which was initiated by recommendation of those members living in and near New York City, and accordingly have voted unanimously in favor. In connection with the College, Sid Hayward, for himself and in behalf of President Hopkins, wrote a very enthusiastic approval of this action. The executive committee not only feels that the class will approve of this action, but that it will heartily welcome Dr. Preis into its membership.
