As June approaches, '86 gets ego-satisfaction from Secretary Gate., who in a letter asks a copy of our 50th Year Report for its suggestion as to Pattee and himself for the 50th Year Reunion of 'BB. We advise Cate and others to get also a copy of the 33d year report of '99, for its delightful pictures and intimate letters.
Spud Smith took a trip to Bermuda late in April and wrote: "My 16-year-old, grandson goes along to keep me out of mischief!"
Every '86 man should see the March 29, 1938, issue of the Manchester Union. In it is a picture of "Treasurer" Fowler, facing a mountain of documents on and behind his desk in his Suncook, N. H., bank. Rose has one copy, which he kindly permitted the Secretary to see and return.
Mrs. Thurston and I called on Biff and Lillian on April 30 in the home of their son David in Madison, N. J. Both were well after their long drive from Florida, and Biff said he was now so well that he was taking his fair share of the driving. They were to go to New Brunswick, N. J., for two weeks to renew contacts with their old friends. Biff was principal of the Rutgers Preparatory School in New Brunswick for 24 years. The Kellys will be in Greensboro, Vt., by the middle of June.
We learn, via Pete, that Wales takes a leisurely walk every day along the shore at Old Orchard Beach. He says he has not seen an '86 man since June 'B6. Don't waste all your letters on Pete, George. Write to some of the rest of us on a bet that we won't answer!
As for Pete, he is now composing Dartmouth songs. Write him for copies.
Goodwin has just brought out his 64-page spring issue of World Topics Quarterly. Karl still has speed enough to keep up with the leading events of all the world.
'86 rejoices that, after an anxious winter, Arthur and Bessie Fairbanks expect at this writing to be in their home on Balch Hill by June. Here's wishing that several of us might sit on their porch with them on an afternoon of one of Hanover's June days. "Jim" (George) Fowler, who has been somewhat restricted in physical activities in recent months because of high blood pressure, on May 12 was compelled to "knock off work" and remain at home under a nurse's care—at this writing we learn he is rapidly improving and we hope on the way to complete recovery.
Secretary, 215 Walnut St., Montclair, N. J.
