AT THE suggestion of Clifford H. Smith, secretary of the class of 1879, the class at its 60th reunion in June dedicated an elm tree to the memory of the late president of the class, William N. Cohen. At the ceremony of dedication, President Hopkins spoke of his pleasure at being with the class of '79, of his friendship with many of the members of the class whose contributions to the College had been great, and he paid tribute to Judge Cohen, one of the College's most interested and generous sons.
The COHEN ELM stands near the west entrance to Baker Library. It is a thrifty tree about 16 inches in diameter and should flourish for a century to come. A permanent marker will be placed near the tree.
