IN A MOVE to correlate the activities of the various Dartmouth publicity agencies and present a better balanced interpretation of the College to the general public, the Dartmouth College Public Relations Council was formally organized during the summer. The new Council, authorized by President Hopkins at the close of the last college year, has grown out of informal meetings held during the past two years by essentially the same group of College officers now forming the Council.
The new public relations group is headed by Charles E. Widmayer '30, director of the College news service, and also includes Sidney C. Hayward '26, editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE and director of Dartmouth College Films; Robert P. Fuller '37, director of athletic publicity: Hans Paschen '28t, general manager, and John A. Rand '38, assistant manager, of the Dartmouth Outing Club; Ford K. Sayre '33, manager, and Margaret L. Sayre, assistant manager, of the Hanover Inn; Davis Jackson '36, business manager of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE; and Robert E. Lang '38, graduate manager of student organizations. As an advisory group to work with the Public Relations Council in formulating policy, the Alumni Council has named a committee of three, including Sigurd S. Larmon '14 of New York City, Bill Cunningham '19 of Boston, and John W. Hubbell '21 of New York City.
As part of its first year's program the Council has acquired the full-time services of Adrian Bouchard as photographer and cameraman, and has made plans for the fortnightly publication of a cooperative clip-sheet, News from Dartmouth.
