THE ANNUAL TRUSTEES Outing and Dinner on October 14 started off the Club's activities for the year with a bang. About 40 men listened to the Navy game broadcast at the Club's cabin in Groton, Mass. The enjoyment of the broadcast was increased by the presence of a keg of nutbrown ale provided by the Club. After the broadcast, "Youngsters" Bill Hall '36, Jack Devlin '37, and Len Viens '39 gave the older members a real workout in a fast moving touch football game. Trustee Dick Nichols '26 ably toastmastered the dinner with his dry New Hampshire humor. Other Trustees present were Clarence McDavitt 'OO, Ray Cabot 'l2, Carl Shumway 'l3 and Ed Johnson '27. Mac and Ray spoke in behalf of the Trustees. Carl Ward '32, the Club's director of membership, and Bill Callihan '34, its chairman, represented the Club at the head table. Invited guests from Hanover were Hans Paschen T'2B, General Manager of the D.0.C.; John Rand '3B, his assistant, and Herb McCreery '29 now in charge of ski equipment at the "Co-op."
Yes, you should have been there! Our informal dance in Groton's Grange Hall after the Harvard game developed into the dance of the week-end. Amidst the colorful decorations, a happy throng swung and swayed as jitterbugs, Virginia reelers, and square dancers. It surely was a lot of fun.
Sunday, December 17, is a day for all D.O.C. of B.er's and their friends to red letter on their calendars. At 3 P.M., a smoke-talk will be given by a noted person whose name will be announced in the December issue of the club's publication, "The Trail." After the smoke-talk we will have another of our famous Christmas parties. Guests of both sexes and all ages are welcome.
The Cabin is 30 miles northwest of Boston and 2 miles from the white church in the center of Groton. By taking Old Lowell Road, the first right beyond the church and by following the red and white markers on the telephone poles, the Cabin can be easily reached by automobile. The Club dues are $3.00 per year and anyone who ever attended Dartmouth is eligible for membership. The Cabin is open almost every week-end. All who are interested in the Club and its activities are cordially urged to join us there.
