In all future editions of this sports section, the sports editor will attempt to single out some individual, some event, or some team that in his opin- ion best exemplifies the best in Dart- mouth athletics for the preceding month. At times, to select one individ- ual, one event or one team out of the long list may at times be most difficult and likely impossible. But in so doing, this little feature hopes never to overlook the many excellent deeds, but merely to pick one above them all.
The first of these verbal awards goes to junior Bob White, guard on the basketball quintet, and here's why. White was not rated very highly at the outset of the court season, and on the basis of his play as a sophomore he would never have been considered a leading player. But at a time when the court team was short-handed, White rose to the emergency, played good basketball at first, then very good basketball as he went along, until he is now an outstanding member of an outstanding team. Stardom will never be his in the ordinary sense of the word, but as the most improved of all the players, he is well on his way to unsung talent.
