Secretary, ........ 31 Parker St., Gardner, Mass.
As these notes are written the mail man will have delivered to each of you the thirty-fourth annual report of the class. In it you will find the call for the Fortieth Reunion, a tentative program for that soul-stirring event, and such other matters as by tradition are a part of a '99 report. Some items of interest had to be omitted because they arrived too late for insertion, in particular letters and personal items which will have to appear here.
Within the front cover of the report you will find a questionnaire which you should fill out and promptly mail to the Secretary. This is the last call for the reunion, and it is absolutely necessary to know who and how many are planning to be present, to the end that suitable arrangements may be made for your accommodation and pleasure. EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE ALREADY SIGNED UP BY POSTCARD DO NOT FAIL TO FILL OUT AND MAIL THE QUESTIONNAIRE. Pay strict attention to the WARNING about room reservations. THESE MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE BURSAR'S OFFICE.
All the labors of the Executive Committee and the class officers in making plans for a reunion go for naught unless those for whose comfort and entertainment they are made come to enjoy the results. Let nothing mundane detain or delay you. This is your reunion to have and to hold and enjoy to the fullest. The past is secure in memory, the future beckons with attractive allurements, but this living, throbbing present is an opportunity for personal satisfaction no one of us should miss. Up to date fifty classmates with children, grandchildren, and friends, making in all a company of eighty persons, have indicated they will be at the reunion. We want every last man to be present. Will you be numbered among the elect?
In charge of the various set events are the following: Gay go's Games: T. A. Lynch with able assistants Weary Wardle, Dave Storrs. Men's Dinner: Peddy Miller. Women's and Children's Dinner: Helen Parker. Memorial Exercises: K. Beal. Tent Party: C. H. Donahue. '99 on Parade: George G. Clark. Big Family Dinner: Bones Woodward. Post Reunion: George G. Clark, Rodney Sanborn, Warren Kendall. Headquarters and sundry other things too numerous to mention: Benezet, Wes Jordan, Jim Richardson, Dave Storrs, the Secretary. Marshal: Joe Gannon. Music: Alvah Sleeper. Everyone is drafted to help them.
Ernest L. Silver has returned to Plymouth from a short stay in the General Hospital at Montreal, where he went for a period of observation. The report is entirely satisfactory, and Ernest is much improved in health and spirits. He'll be at the reunion in June.
E. B. Wardle is spending a few days with Ray Pearl in Baltimore, and incidentally calling on all '99ers in Washington and New York.
Omitted from the Grandfather List in the Class Report because of late arrival, but good news here, is Warren C. Kendall. The hopefuls: Warren Cleveland Kennedy—July 8, 1939, and William Thomas Kendall—July 20, 1939. Among the distinguished guests at the inauguration ceremonies of the new Supreme Judicial Court quarters in the Suffolk County Court House at Boston was Prof. Harley R. Willard. Tony was the guest of Mr. Justice Donahue.
In anticipation of the joys of reunion, Bones Woodward writes: "Your sad letter received. Of course I'll do as you asked, but it certainly will be hard to inject a great deal of merriment into what is left of the gang on Sunday evening, when everybody will be full of soda and aspirin and asleep on their feet." Bones will wake 'em up.
The necessity of closing the forms 011 the class report at an early date forced us to omit several items of interest which came to hand too late for printing. Among others is news of Montie J. B. Fuller. Montie has left Torrington and is now located at Thomaston, Conn., R. F. D. No. 2. He is living with has daughter Marcia, and preaching as a supply minister as opportunity offers. He attended the Boston Roundup, where he was the center of an admiring group, and will be at the Reunion in June. He sends a word of greeting to all of us.
Born Sunday, March 19, 1939, to Mr. and Mrs. William M. Beal a daughter-Sarah Byden Beal.
