Dear Madam: Your letter addressed to the Postmaster of Grand Bassa, Liberia, was fortunately handed over to me.
I thank you very sincerely for the contents, and so far as the information concerning my father, the late John N. Lewis is concerned, I beg to inform you hereby that since my father had returned from you, he was always settled here at Lower Buchanen, Grand Bassa County and where he was doing his professional works until he died.
He took sick in the latter part of August 1935 and died on the 2nd day of September of the same year, he was transported to Whreh-Zenh, the place of his birth, and was buried there.
No doubt you may like to know the tribe he sprong of; he was of Basa tribe. He left twelve children; five boys and seven girls. I am oldest child of the children. (I am a Young maid.)
I should be pleased and grateful, if you would give an assistance of accepting one of the boys children.
Hope to hear from you in short. Thanking you very much in advance, with best
regard from the family. Beg to remain,
Dear Madam, Yours faithfully
