Hooray! In June, 1940, Dartmouth gave a degree as of June, 1886, to Dr. Henry 0 Smith. Welcome to our class, Spud.

Billie has sold his farm in Norwich. He and Mrs. Newton, in August, "took the most enjoyable 9-days' trip ever"—through Hanover, then through Montpelier, Smugglers Notch, and Burlington, Vt.; then across Lake Champlain to Ausable Chasm,

Lake Placid, White Face Mountain, and Fort Ticonderoga, in New York.

On the way they called upon Rose in Greenfield, Mass. Rose has given up preaching and is "going carefully."

A July note from Biff says that Fairbanks looked well when he saw him in St. Johnsbury, Vt. at a wedding party for his niece.

In August, Tommy sent us a "howdie" from Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona. He says—"Beautiful Country—all well."

A Dartmouth man reports calling on Wizzie in July and found him cheerful and comfortable.

Burley reported all well via telephone from Newark, N. J.

In August and September, Mrs. Thurston and I took a seven-weeks' outing on the coast of Maine. We have seen the beauty of bays, wooded islands and hills, sunsets and full moons from Portland to Blue Hill—and from Bangor to Stonington on Deer Island.

For a thrilling tale about Castine and Fort George read Red Coats in Castine by Judge Patterson, son of W. W. Patterson, Dartmouth '76.

And now, boys and girls of '86, let us all make plans to meet in our 55th year Reunion in June, 1941.
