The Class met with a grievous and sudden loss on March 27 when Secretary William P.Kelly died in St. Petersburg,, his winter home, as the result of a highway accident. Details of the accident and of his funeral on Monday, March 30, will be found in the In Memoriam section of this issue.
Since the death of Mrs. Kelly last fall, Biff had been bravely, carrying on, filling his days with thought of others, and especially with Class correspondence and personal contacts, which seemed to comfort him. At Christmas time he wrote Christmas card messages to all in the '86 family, and when he died he was engaged in writing a series of biographies of surviving, classmates, for the Magazine.
He had served the Class for many years as Secretary and Treasurer and for a shorter period as Class Agent, had attended almost all the Class reunions, and had always a loyal affection for the College.
In his professional career he had won high honors as teacher, school administrator and writer.
Biff and Mrs. Kelly filled a special place in the hearts of us all in '86 and of many friends in other classes. From our hearts we extend sympathy to their two sons, David Kelly of New York City and Madison, N. J., and Dr. William P. Kelly Jr. '23 of Carmel, N. Y., and to their families.
