ONE OF DARTMOUTH'S GREATEST needs—a man from Nevadawas fulfilled with the matriculation this fall of Robert E. Kendall '44 of Virginia City, Nevada. This gives the Dartmouth student body representation from all 48 states, as well as the District of Columbia, three United States territories, and eleven foreign lands.
New York leads with 541 of the College's 2,441 students, followed by Massachusetts with 438, New Jersey with 237, Connecticut with 160, New Hampshire with 137, Ohio with 116, Illinois with 108, and Pennsylvania with 107. Two-thirds of the students come from beyond the New England states. Territories represented are the Canal Zone, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Foreign lands are Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Guatemala, Japan, Norway, and Syria.
