Frank Heald is the author of two pamphlets: The Functions of the Critic-Teacher, and SCIENCE RELATED TO AGRICULTURE, PART 3,-.—Related Physics andChemistry. To your Secretary it seems as though Frank has been driving some pretty deep salients into the field of knowledge. I should like to see him supervising the Ever Normal Granary.

John Meserve, who practices general medicine in Norwood, Ohio, has found time in his busy life to be vice-mayor and President of the Council of his city. His successful life in college has been followed by a successful career ever since. He has four sons: John C. (eldest) U. S. Naval Hospital Service; Robert C., American Airlines, Transportation Agent. Cleveland, Ohio; Richard Allis Chalmers Electrical Mfg. Co.; and Julian H., Marine Engineer with the Federal Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Cos, New Jersey. His wife, Edith Conner, whom we used to see in Hanover at Commencement time, died February 15, 1939.

Morrill's picture appeared recently in the NEW YORK JOURNAL OF COMMERCE, and under it was "Expert" in quotation marks. Your Secretary inquired into it and found that the National Association of Food Chains had a convention, and, as part of the program, an InformationPlease, in which Albert did the Clifton Fadiman. You will recall Mark Twain's remark that information distilled from him like attar of rose from an otter. But I'll bet that Albert delivered the goods with his accustomed grace.

Your Secretary wrote Mosher requesting material for a panegyric on life among the rattlesnakes. Mosher replied that he and Mrs. Mosher were living a quiet, retired life in Phoenix; that they have one son, Hugh C. Mosher, and one grandson, Loren Cameron Mosher.

The engagement of Ward's son, Carlton J. (Dartmouth '32) to Phyllis Louise Morey of Manchester, Connecticut, has been announced. Carlton called on me at my office and I am glad he did. He is a conspicuously fine, upstanding man like his father.

Secretary, 50 State St., Boston, Mass.
