THE ANNUAL FALL meeting of the Council of the Alumni began Friday morning, October 25, when President Harold P. Hinman '10 called the meeting to order at the University Club in Boston. The general meeting was preceded by breakfast gatherings of several committees.

Foster '10, Portland, Me.; Harold P. Hinman '10, Canaan, N. H.; Leslie W. Snow 'is, New York City; Henry E. Atwood '13, Minneapolis; Thomas D. Cunningham '13, Denver; Warde Wilkins '13, Boston; Richard E. Pritchard '14, New Britain, Conn.; Fletcher R. Andrews '16, Cleveland; Sumner B. Emerson '17, New York City; Harvey P. Hood II '18, Boston; Bill Cunningham '19, Boston; J. William Embree Jr. '21, Chicago; Sherman Baldwin '23, Worcester, Mass.; John E. Foster '23, New York City; Sidney C. The principal event on the program was an off-the-record talk by President Hopkins. He discussed College policies and problems at length with members of the Council. William H. McCarter '19, Director of Athletics, spoke for the Athletic Council.

Regular committee reports were made by the following members of the Council in behalf of their respective committees: Alumni Projects, Mr. Pritchard; Vocational Committee, Mr. Abbott; Redisricting and Membership, Mr. Curtis; Dartmouth Teacher Placement, Mr. Robinson; Alumni Fund, Mr. Hood; Class Gifts to the College, Mr. Emerson; Admissions and Schools, Mr. Foster '33; Class Organization, Mr. Baldwin.

Mr. Emerson also led a discussion on the question of greater recognition of the interest of fathers of Dartmouth students, speaking for his special committee studying this matter. A committee consisting of Mr. Wilkins, chairman, and Messrs. Snow and Cunningham '19, reported the following resolutions: RESOLVED: That the Council is happy to pay its respects to President Hopkins as he starts the twenty-fifth anniversary year of his administration. We remember the confidence we have had in him all these years and in pledging our continued support and loyalty we wish to express our thankfulness that he remains the head of the College.

RESOLVED: That the Council expresses its appreciation and commendation to Sumner B. Emerson '17, chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee and Albert I. Dickerson '30, secretary of the Committee, and their class agents, for the outstanding record they made in surpassing the objective in amount and reaching a new high in number of subscribers for the Alumni Fund. RESOLVED: That the appreciation of the Dartmouth Alumni Council be expressed to Earl H. Blaik and the football coaching staff for the fine work they have done and are doing for the College. We have the same high confidence in their ability to direct football in Hanover that we have had in the past; our best wishes to the coaches and the squad for the rest of the season.
