Though the new thriller TheSkulls is set in Connecticut, the film's opening scene features Dartmouth's boathouse, not Yale's. "The director, Rob Cohen, didn't feel their boathouse looked like 'classic Ivy League' so his staff contacted us," explains Dartmouth rowing coach Richard Grossman.

Dartmouth also came to the rescue in another scene in which main character Luke McNamara, played by actor Joshua Jackson, finishes rowing practice and jumps on his bike. "The star didn't want to come to Hanover to shoot the scene," says Grossman. So former lightweight oarsman and two-time Eastern rowing champion Davis Kitchel '95 stepped in. However, even Dartmouth couldn't rescue this bow-wow of a movie. "It's in a category by itself," wrote film critic Roger Ebert.
