THE WORLD PREMIERE of Music of theMasters, a motion picture interpretation of the techniques of leading concert artists, was held in the Nugget Theatre on Sunday, November 10, under the auspices of Dartmouth College Films. Two three-reel programs, for November and December release, included ten-minute recitals by Jose Iturbi, pianist; Mildred Dilling, harpist; the Coolidge String Quartet; Vronsky and Babin, duo pianists; Emanuel Feuerman, cellist; and Igor Gorin, baritone.
Produced in Hollywood with the cooperation of John Erskine, the 16 mm. sound films made a close-range study of the artistry of the concert celebrities presented. Harry Kapit, president of Walter O. Gut- lohn, Inc., New York distributors of Musicof the Masters, came to Hanover for the premiere. Haven Falconer '39, director of Dartmouth College Films and chairman of the recently organized New England Educational Film Association, was in charge of the opening.
