The Poors. The picture which goes with this is to us Young John Poor, to others, John Edward Hazen, two years old. Young John is not on his way to church. He is wondering if the Class of 1957 will be worth entering. This is just the way John used to look as he came despondently from a Calculus examination. However, the professors invariably marked him 93. This was to carry on the fiction that they (the professors) knew more about the subject than he (John Poor).
Mrs. Poor maintains the family home in Hanover. Dorothy, married to Edward H. Hazen, lives in Hampton, New Hampshire, where her husband is the appreciated Principal of the Junior High School, and Elizabeth is an able teacher in Home Making in the city schools of Norwalk, Conn.
NOTES FROM NEEDHAM
Rollins. The Secretary recently was talking to teachers in Needham, Mass. Doubtless they attended unwillingly and remained under compulsion. The Secretary learned this:
Weld E. Rollins is one good citizen, Mrs. Rollins is being urged for the city Board of Education,
Mary should have happy consideration for election as Queen at the Dartmouth Carnival in 1951.
Pillsbury. Always with head up and quiet courage Pills stands ready to take it on the chin. He was for many years exceptionally vigorous and then diabetes and an infected foot reached for him. He lost one leg and mastered an artificial one and went again to his work. He now faces a heart weakness that took him to a hospital and now confines him at his home. Pillsbury lives on a small farm among the northern hills of southwestern Conn. The address is Stamford, Route 1. Classmates should write and call. Mrs. Pillsbury goes into Stamford each day for professional employment and daughter, Shirley Mae, is now 13 years old.
JOHN EDWARD HAZEN Grandson of the late John Poor '97.
Secretary, West Hartford, Conn. JOHN EDWARD HAZEN Hanover, June, 1939.
