Thank goodness for the notes on Lucy's class dues forms! Without them, I'm afraid there'd be no column this month. Here goes:

Sam Taylor checks in with a report that he's had a one-week cruise on the Norway and has been making all the local summer and fall fairs in the Taylorville, III., area: Kincaid, Witt, Mount Auburn, etc. He finishes, "Crops wonderful, prices lousy."

October in Italy was Charlie Dwyer's dish. He planned to be back for the Dartmouth-Yale. game.

Dick Denby deplored that there were no '31 summer visitors on his homeland, Nantucket, this year but said that he had called Frank Leahy '30 and Edith on Martha's Vineyard to congratulate them on their 50th wedding anniversary.

"Chief cook and bottle washer" is how Matty Matteson describes the role he has had for the past several months, since Lorene had a hip replacement. He says she is showing improvement every day and getting around well with a walker. They plan to be in Pompano Beach, Fla. (1200 Hibiscus Road, #901), by November 1, to escape Buffalo's wintry blasts.

Here are a few more Florida addresses for the winter, both in North Naples. Bernie Boyle, 480 7th Avenue, and CliffHarris, Billows #15, 2601 Gulf Shore Blvd.

Writing from Falmouth, Maine, TedJohnson says he and Bertha are fine, that he chops about 10 cords of firewood with another fellow each February or March, and they greatly enjoy their woodsy hideaway near Bartlett, N.H. They are grateful for the hospitality always extended to them by '31 classmates on their occasional trips back to Hanover.

The College's official representative at the inauguration of Dr. Anita M. Pampusch as president of the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn., on May 10 was our own Dr. Benedict E. Hardman. Ben and Murel had a trip to the Highlands of Scotland this year, but it was marred by Murel breaking her right ankle and spraining her left leg in a fall while descending a staircase at Dunrobin Castle. With the weather poor, they headed for , home in St. Paul with Murel managing the flight on crutches and a wheelchair. She's been coming along very well since them.

The program for the Princeton football game contained a description of the Dartmouth College Athletic Sponsor Program, which exists "to underwrite the transportation of outstanding student/athletes to the campus (for their one allowable visit) so that they may experience firsthand the uniqueness that is Dartmouth." Contributions to the fund range from $100 to $1,500.

There was a listing of the present sponsors by classes. Our class is represented by John Benson, Bernie Boyle, Bunce Clarkson, John Goodwillie, Ori Hobbs, Si Leach, Mac MacKechnie, Matty Matteson, Hank McCarthy, Mac MacCortney, Cliff McDonald, Spence Miller, and George Nickum.

The following have written Lucy that they plan (or hope) to be present for next June's Mighty 55th: Tom Williams, Mil Hallenback, Bill Steck, Bill Minehan, George Nickum, Doug Wilson, Jim Rick, and (just possibly from overseas) Jack Weisert.

See you there!
